ASSIST Seminar – Invited Talk

Overview:

During this seminar, Dr. Stephany Dunstan of NC State University will talk to participants about language diversity through the framework of dialect variation within North Carolina. The seminar will address common myths about languages/dialects and implications. The seminar will also discuss issues of social justice related to language, including issues of privilege associated with language, linguistic discrimination, and language ideologies. The seminar will be interactive in nature and ask participants to engage in active learning, discussion and reflection.

The seminar from 1 PM – 2 PM will be open to general audience and it will be broadcast to all ASSIST partnering institutions.
